A Grovetown family festival Friday will benefit breast cancer awareness, education and research.
The inaugural Pink Friday for a Cure will be 5-10 p.m. Friday at Liberty Park Community Center on Newmantown Road.
“I figure if we’re going to plan a community event, we might as well benefit a good cause,” Grovetown Community Events Manager Jennifer Evans said.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.
Evans said the event will feature a 5K run/walk. The entry fee is $10 and includes a T-shirt and water.
Briana Tyson, a 2011 American Idol contestant, will perform.
Evans said she’s planned a Miss Grovetown pageant, featuring male city leaders and residents dressing as women, at 6 p.m.
Families can enjoy inflatables, arts, crafts, food vendors and hot air balloon rides.
There will be a raffle for prizes including watches, fishing poles, a tackle box, gift cards and other gifts.
“Some of the local businesses have donated raffle prizes,” Evans said. “We’ve got some good stuff.”
Breast cancer-themed luminary bags will be sold.
The event is free.
