Jasmyn Cornell was stunned when her name was called Friday as Evans High School’s 2012 Homecoming queen.
“It was a surprise,” said Jasmyn, 16.
She looked shocked, then hugged her father and escort, Gerald Bradley.
“She’s beautiful,” first runner-up, Annsley Boulineau said.
“And bright and pretty and nice and a cheerleader and a track star,” Molly Knight, second runner-up, said of Jasmyn.
Jasmyn is captain of the varsity competition cheer squad. She also is a member of the Beta Club, Math Honor Society, Spanish Honors Society, Buddy Club, “Not In Our School” Club and student council. She attends Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
Jasmyn plans to attend Georgia Southern University and study theatrical and broadcast arts.
All of the girls said being on Homecoming Court and Spirit Week leading up to Homecoming was a week they’ll never forget.
“I didn’t expect to win,” Jasmyn said. “I was just really thankful and humble to be a part of this my senior year.”
