The stories of Dr. Seuss will be hit the stage during the Augusta Junior Players production of Seussical this weekend.
The performances will take place at Greenbrier High School at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Richard Justice and Rebecca Brune are the directors of the play and Brandon Brune is the musical director.
“We are thrilled to be opening our 2012-13 Junior Players season with Seussical,” said Brune, the artistic director of The Augusta Junior Players.
“Seussical is appropriate for all ages,” she said. “The classic stories of The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, Oh the Thinks You Can Think, Yertle the Turtle and The Grinch are just a few of the stories touched on, making this musical entertaining for all ages. We have colorful costumes, an amazing set, an orchestra and a top-notch technical crew.”
About 60 youngsters from the area ages 10 to 19 auditioned for the cast of 35, Brune said.
“Our cast is packed with talented kids from all over the greater Augusta area,” she said. “In my six seasons directing the Junior Players, I have found that Augusta has no shortage of talented youth.”
Tickets are $12 for individuals 13 and up and $8 for children 12 and under. All tickets are general admission and will be sold at the door.
