Ted Pacheco Nominated by Ansley Pacheco, 7, Grovetown
You are the best ever. You take me to movies for date night. We go to the circus and Georgia Bulldog games. We go out of town. I don’t have any brothers or sisters. I have (him) all to myself. I like that a lot. You turn on my night light and you give me a cup of water and my vitamin.
Meyer Schwartz Nominated by Madelyn James, 9, Grovetown
I would like to nominate Meyer Schwartz for Father of the Year. He became my father in 2009, when my mother married him. I believe that God chose him to be my father and I am so thankful for that. He is special to me because he reads to me every night, changes my frown to a smile, he comes to eat lunch with me weekly and he also gives me ice cream when I don’t deserve it. He also never forgets important events, such as school plays and ballet performances. I thank God every day for him.
David Key Nominated by McKenna Key, 9, Evans
My dad should be the Columbia County dad because he is always protecting me so I don’t get hurt. He always is the person who buys dinner or cooks it. My dad also always signs me up for special events and pays for the event. My dad is the one who cheers me on at stuff. He also gives me a hand when I am down. Do you have a dad like that? My dad is my lovely, only one hero.
Donald Long Nominated by Devin Long, 10, Martinez
My Dad should be Father of the Year because he helps me, buys me things, takes me places and does a lot of other exciting things for me. My Dad is crazy and silly, and he makes me laugh a lot. He has taught me how to play golf, and we sometimes play basketball and football in the backyard. We also like to wrestle with each other. My Dad is awesome and cool, and I think he is great!
Terry Wicklum Nominated by Andrew Wicklum, 10, Evans
My dad is the best dad in the world. My dad is special because he helps me do everything and he is everything to me. About a year and a half ago, me and my family lost a child and other people didn’t understand what it was like to be me. But my dad of all the people helped me go through that. He talked to me and told me he was in a better place and that made me feel a lot better. I love you dad with all my heart.
Bill Corder Nominated by Calla Corder, 11, Evans
My father, Bill Corder, should be Father of the Year because he’s an inspiration. My father helps lots of people by volunteering at church, as a Cub Scout leader and treasurer, and being a great dad. But I’ve been most inspired by how my dad changed his life. He lost 111 pounds over the last year. My dad ate better and started running. Then he taught me to run, too! My dad’s run many races, including running with me during two Girls on the Run races. His example has helped me to find a passion for running and living healthy.
Sanjeev Kapuria Nominated by Rohan Kapuria, 11, Evans
Hello, my name is Rohan Kapuria and I would like to tell you why I think my dad should win the contest. First, I will tell you how my father cares about me. My father is the kindest person I know. He helps me if I need help with studies. Suppose I need help with a math question. Not to worry, my dad is there! My dad can do anything for me! He always guides me on the right path. If I do something wrong, then he will tell me why what I am doing is wrong, and then he will tell me the right thing to do. My dad will sacrifice his own time to help me with things. My dad also even finds time to help other people. He teaches yoga to people that have medical problems. My father is a doctor, so he helps people every day. He can do anything to help someone. These are the reasons why I think my dad should win this contest.
Marvin Dexter Ray Nominated by Parker Helen Ray, 12, Martinez
My Dad, Dexter Ray, is an awesome Dad. First, he gives all his time to us (my brothers and me). He rarely even watches TV. He is always cooking for us, practicing our sports with us, taking us fun places ... teaching us stuff, and playing sports or cards. My mom says she’s never seen, even in movies, a dad so devoted. My Dad’s dad died in a car accident when he was 7, so she says he wants us to have a dad. We do, and he is awesome!
