A Greenbrier High School student was in Juvenile Court Monday after being charged for groping a female classmate.
Columbia County Juvenile Court Judge Doug Flanagan released the 15-year-old boy to his parents at the detention hearing. He’s not allowed to have any contact with the victim.
The boy was charged with simple battery on March 12 after a 14-year-old female classmate said he groped her. She told a school safety officer that on March 8 the boy “smacked her on the buttock with his hand,” according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
The boy admitted touching the girl’s buttocks.
The girl also said the boy had touched her buttocks and her breast, over her clothing, in the past and she told him to stop.
The school safety officer contacted the boy’s and the girl’s parents, who came to the school to speak to deputies. The girl’s mother wanted to prosecute.
Deputies took the boy to the courthouse in Evans, where Flanagan said to charge him with simple battery.
