As an overhaul of the Milton Ruben Superstore continues, the Columbia County Planning Commission gave its approval Thursday to keep a mobile office on site for another year.

Renovations on the Martinez car dealership started January 2011, and planning commissioners had allowed for three temporary trailers on the property. Two of those trailers are in the process of being taken down.

The $5 million renovation project is being done in several phases and will result in a modernized look to the dealership, located on Washington Road.

Work on the Toyota facility could be finished in early 2012.

A remodel of the Chevrolet building is also underway, with renovations to follow on the Chrysler and pre-owned centers.

Also at the meeting, a plan revision was approved for a small daycare center on Jennings Road.

Planning commissioners agreed that the owner could increase the number of children that come to her facility from 25 to 35. The center is located behind her Evans home.
