In Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the sour miser Ebeneezer Scrooge transforms into a caring man full of Christmas spirit.
Bright Star Touring Theatre Inc. will bring Scrooge’s story to the stage in A Dickens Tale, a shortened version of the literary classic, on Sunday.
“It’s a classic Christmas tale at Christmas,” Columbia County Community Events Specialist Keela Colombraro said.
The theatre will perform the holiday play at 4 and 7 p.m. at the Jabez Sanford Hardin Performing Arts Theater inside the Columbia County Library on Evans Town Center Boulevard. Tickets cost $5 and will be available at the door.
The professional touring theatre company, based in Asheville, N.C., travels the country with a variety of shows throughout the year.
“It’s great for families,” theatre co-founder David Ostergaard said. “It’s really fast-paced and fun.”
The story of Scrooge, on his journey from a miser to a generous man, includes bumbling Cratchit, Jacob Marley and three ghosts.
“It’s definitely something the whole family could get into,” Colombraro said. “Very small kids to adults are going to get the holiday feeling from this show.”
