Georgia Forestry Commission officials recently named Chief Ranger Larry Felix as the supervisor of the Columbia/Richmond county office.
Felix, who has worked for the Forestry Commission for 14 years, replaces Chief Ranger Senior Steve Abbott, who retired in September.
The committee to find a supervisor for the office submitted Felix as their recommendation for the job, and he was approved Nov. 18 by state Forestry Commission Director Bob Farris.
Felix said he doesn’t plan to make any immediate changes.
“Everything will be status quo,” Felix said. “We’ll try to do our best to serve the customers of the CSRA as best as we can.”
Felix said he started working with the Forestry Commission’s Richmond County office 14 years ago and moved to the office near Grovetown three years ago after the merger of the offices.
