Anyone interested in participating in the Columbia County Relay for Life is invited to the kick-off dinner this evening.
Dinner will start at 6 p.m. at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church on Hereford Farm Road at Columbia Road.
The event, formerly the Harlem Relay for Life, has grown to include teams and volunteers from throughout the county, event Chairwoman Lee Ann Meyer said.
As a result, the relay was moved from Harlem and will be held at the Columbia County Fairgrounds on April 24.
In 2010, Meyer said 27 teams participated in the Relay, which raised more than $80,000 for the American Cancer Society.
“It was the most teams we’ve ever had and the most money we’ve ever made,” Meyer said.
Anyone interested in forming a team, becoming a volunteer, or joining the Relay planning committee is welcome to attend.
