Wine connoisseurs need look no farther than the Savannah Rapids Pavilion on Saturday for a place to sample something new.
The sixth annual CoCo Wine Festival will offer an assortment of wine, beer and food to tempt the taste buds.
“We’re still promising to have over 200 wines and more beer than we had last year,” said event organizer Pat Goodwin.
The first 400 people in attendance will receive a free souvenir glass, Goodwin said.
The event is held from 1-4 p.m. at the Martinez pavilion.
In previous years, the wine festival was combined with the Augusta Rose Society’s annual Augusta Rose Show. While the two events were separated this year, Goodwin said the rose society is providing arrangements for display during the festival.
The jazz group Stepping Up will perform and get guests on the dance floor.
Food will be served by Pizza Central, La Maison, Augusta Technical College’s Culinary Arts program, Events 20-20 as well as two personal chefs.
“It really allows you to mix and mingle with other people,” Goodwin said.
The serene setting at the pavilion also helps to set the ambiance of the afternoon, she said.
“People love the view from the Savannah Rapids (Pavilion),” she said. “You can’t beat it.”
If purchased at the door, tickets cost $40, or $15 for designated drivers.
Tickets can also be bought in advance for $35 at Ninth Street Wine Market and The Vineyard Wine Market.
