Dr. Nancy McNair, shown with three of her pets, is the co-founder of Paw Prints Foundation, a nonprofit promoting responsible pet ownership.

Each of Dr. Nancy McNair's many dogs has a story, and she knows all of them.

"Every one of them (are rescued)," said McNair, who is a co-founder of the PawPrints Foundation.

She's hoping to help other animals in need on Saturday by raising funds through Wags to Wishes, the foundation's fourth annual fundraising event.

Proceeds from the event go to the foundation, which supports animal rescue groups and shelters by assisting in animal transports, providing food for fostered animals and helping any group in need.

The Surf's Up theme features Jimmy Buffett-style beach music from Leo Dean.

"It's a casual, get-out-your-Hawaiian-shirt (kind of event)," McNair said.

The event will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, live and silent auctions, and raffles for gift baskets.

The auctions feature artwork from area artists and others. Gift items, including a trip to the California wine country, a Masters Week trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., a pink Coach dog collar, and animal supplies will be available for bidding.

"We have a lot of different baskets," McNair said. "We have a lot of good stuff."

The event runs 7-10 p.m. at Taylor BMW on Washington Road in Evans.

Tickets cost $20 each or $30 for two. They are available at the door or in advance at Animal House; Anything Goes; Art on Broad; Boots, Bridles & Britches; Taylor BMW; Vineyard Wine Market; Wild Birds Unlimited; or, online at www.pawprintsfoundation.org.
