Last Week: 5-1
Season total: 42-11 (79.2 percent)
Lakeside continues to impress in 2-AAAAA. The Panthers knocked off a solid Jones County team to improve to 4-1 in the Region with Evans and Warner Robins remaining on their schedule. Augusta Prep rolled again this week, with a 51-6 win over the Augusta Eagles. The Cavaliers are now 8-1 on the season. Augusta Christian won 20-17 in the closing seconds over Heathwood Hall.
This Week’s Picks
Lakeside (6-2, 4-1) at Evans (4-4, 2-3)
Last Week: LHS beat Jones County 35-20 / Evans lost to Houston County 20-9
Last Meeting: Lakeside beat Evans 21-14 last year for their fourth straight win in the series (Evans leads all-time 13-7-1)
This is a must-win for Evans if they plan to make the postseason. The Panthers must win to keep their chances alive to host a playoff game. Lakeside has been red-hot and is averaging 34.1 points per contest. Evans has been up and down on offense and has managed only 41 points in their four losses this season. The Evans offense was shutout by Houston County (they scored on an interception return and a safety). This contest has also been selected by MaxPreps and The National Guard as one of the MaxPreps Rivalry Series Games for this week. Only a few games around the nation are selected each week.
Greenbrier (0-8, 0-5) at Grovetown (1-7, 0-5)
Last Week: Greenbrier lost to Northside WR 41-7 / Grovetown lost to Warner Robins 59-10
Last Meeting: Grovetown won 42-26 last year, and they lead the series 2-1
Both teams come in struggling. For Greenbrier, its the lack of offense. The Pack has managed only 37 points all season for an average of 4.6 points per game. Grovetown’s troubles have been on the other side of the ball. The Warriors are allowing 48 points per contest this year. So, something has to give on Friday Night.
Grovetown 22 Greenbrier 16
Augusta Christian (3-6, 3-5) vs. Orangeburg Prep (9-1, 7-1)
Last Week: ACS won 20-17 over Heathwood Hall / OP topped Cardinal Newman 21-10
Last Meeting: The Lions beat OP twice last year, 42-20 in the regular season and 39-26 in the playoffs.
Orangeburg Prep’s only loss this season was to unbeaten Wilson Hall. The Lions have played everyone tough this year, but still stand at 3-6 on the season. This is a huge opportunity for an upset that would turn some heads in SCISA.
Orangeburg Prep 30 Augusta Christian 24
Harlem is idle this week. The Bulldogs play at Laney on Nov. 8. They need a win to earn a post season berth.
