Columbia County Sheriff’s Office investigators are looking into a fire that destroyed a Martinez home early Tuesday.
At about 5 a.m., Columbia County Fire Rescue personnel responded to 413 Beverly Road, where they found a single-story home engulfed in flames, according to Batt. Chief Brent Willis. They extinguished the blaze.
The resident of the home, Louis Williams, escaped unharmed. He is being housed temporarily by The American Red Cross.
Williams told firefighters that he woke up and the couch was on fire, Willis said.
