An Evans woman wasn’t injured Tuesday morning when trying to extinguish a blaze that extensively damaged her home.
Carolyn Culbreath, 78, called 911 just before 9 a.m. when she noticed smoke inside her home on River Lane.
“I saw smoke coming from the bedroom wall and I was upstairs,” Culbreath said. “I came on outside, I got the hose and tried to get up there.”
Columbia County Fire Rescue units responded and extinguished the blaze.
The fire is believed to have begun in the attic, but the cause is under investigation, according to Batt. Chief Danny Kuhlmann.
