Columbia County’s school board Tuesday approved purchases of food for next year.
The board awarded $2.24 million to U.S. Food Service for food, $12,764 to Leo’s Produce for fresh fruit and vegetables.
In addition, trustees awarded a $344,225 contract to Southeastern Paper Group for paper products.
All of the bids are for the 2012-13 school year.
Superintendent Charles Nagle also Tuesday provided an update on two major building projects: construction of a new Evans Elementary School and the new Columbia Middle School.
