A new development for Columbia County is coming to Evans.

In an announcement made Tuesday afternoon, the Columbia County Development Authority, in partnership with the Meybohm Group of Cos., announced plans to construct the Plaza at Evans Towne Center.

Directly across from the Lady Antebellum Stage and Evans Towne Center Park, the first phase of the development will incorporate the new Columbia County headquarters for Meybohm in a 20,000-square-foot building.

The space will not only house 100 Meybohm agents and administrative staffers but also will include a mixture of retail and office space, residential living and community amenities.

Phase I of the development will span 96,000 square feet, with 56,000 square feet estimated to be office space and 40,000 square feet to be used for retail space.

“It is a great beginning,” said Ron Cross, the chairman of the Columbia County Commission. “We look forward to the ground being broken and the work started, and we hope that all of you will return and make use of it and make it a real popular destination as the Plaza at Evans Towne Center.”
