HAND OUT Dennis Lamar Wombles, 33, of Grovetown, was charged Tuesday in connection with an incident that led to him being shot by an ex-girlfriend on April 25.

A Grovetown man shot by his ex-girlfriend last week was charged in connection to the incident.

Dennis Lamar Wombles, 33, was charged with criminal trespass. He turned himself in to authorities at the Columbia County Detention Center Tuesday.

Wombles was shot in the buttocks Friday after he went to the Evans home of his ex-girlfriend, Amber Roese Ford, 31, at about 2:15 p.m., according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

Ford was at her home at 1133 Highmoor Lane with Brian Frantom, 39, of Augusta. Initial reports indicate that Frantom was at the home to work on a computer, according to Morris. Wombles arrived and began fighting with Frantom. He assaulted Frantom and argued with Ford, according to Morris.

During the fight, Ford shot Wombles in the buttocks with a handgun, Morris said.

Wombles was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center. He was treated and released over the weekend, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Ford and Frantom were questioned and not charged, Morris said. Wombles was released from the jail after posting a $1,600 bond, according to jail records.
