A Grovetown man was seriously injured Friday when his ex-girlfriend shot him after he assaulted another man in her home.

Dennis Wombles, 33, was shot in the buttocks after he went to the Evans home of his ex-girlfriend, Amber Roese Ford, 31, at about 2:15 p.m., according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

Ford was at her home at 1133 Highmoor Lane with Brian Frantom, 39, of Augusta. Initial reports indicate Frantom was at the home to work on a computer, according to Morris. Wombles arrived and began fighting with Frantom. He also argued with Ford, according to Morris.

During the fight, Ford shot Wombles with a handgun, Morris said.

Wombles was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center, where his condition is not yet known.

Ford and Frantom are in police custody and are being questioned, Morris said. No one has been charged in the incident.
