Columbia County School System officials stated Monday that school will open at normal time on Tuesday, but the travel conditions will dictate any further weather-related school cancellations.
Freezing rain is expected to begin Tuesday afternoon or evening and continue through Wednesday.
School system officials announced Monday that schools will continue on normal schedules Tuesday, according to a press released from the Columbia County School System. An early release of the schools is possible if the weather deteriorates. In the case of early release, all after schools activities including after-school programs will be cancelled.
There is a strong possibility school system officials will close schools and departments on Wednesday because of unsafe travel conditions. That decision will be announced Tuesday afternoon or evening, according to the release.
Parents are asked to monitor the school system Web site www.ccboe.net, Facebook, Twitter and media outlets for the latest information about potential closings or delayed start times for Thursday.
If parents decide to keep their children home when schools are open, the absences will be considered unexcused, but all work can be made up.
