A Martinez boy was injured when his home caught fire early Friday.
Columbia County Fire Rescue responded to a fire alarm and a call from an occupant of the home at 454 Amelia Drive East at about 7:45 a.m.
“When we got on scene, (the fire) was through the roof,” department spokesman Jeremy Wallen said.
One person escaped the home and another was rescued by neighbors, Wallen said. Firefighters searched the home and pulled out an autistic boy, whose name and age weren’t immediately known, Wallen said. The boy was taken to Doctors Hospital, where his condition is not known.
Wallen said fire officials are still investigating the cause and origin of the blaze that completely destroyed the home.
