Harlem officials lit the city Christmas tree on Dec. 5. The annual holiday parade and festival slated for Saturday has been cancelled because if inclement weather.

Inclement weather is derailing Harlem’s annual holiday festival on Saturday.

City officials opted Wednesday to cancel the 11th annual Christmas in the Heart of Downtown Harlem Festival and Parade because of the threat of heavy rain, thunder and lighting on Saturday, city Special Events Coordinator Stacie Hart said.

The festival was set to include a parade, arts and crafts vendors and a cookie contest. All have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled, Hart said.
