A Grovetown teen charged with sex with under-
age girls turned 17 on Mon-day and was transferred from a juvenile facility to the Columbia County Detention Center.
Leo Vassar Tanguay was arrested June 21 and was held in the Regional Youth Detention Center after a judge refused to grant Tanguay a bond.
Tanguay was indicted on July 31 with four counts of child molestation, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
He is accused of having sexual relations with a girl under the age of 16 on two occasions in June and with a girl, 14 or 15 at the time, on two occasions between September 2012 and July 1, 2013, according to the indictment. Tanguay also is accused of having three lewd photos of one of the girls, according to the indictment.
Tanguay’s attorney, Danny Durham, filed a motion to transfer the case to Columbia County Juvenile Court, but no ruling has been made on the motion, according to court records.
