A Martinez man remained in jail Friday, two days after being arrested for drug possession.
John Edward Greubel, 31, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a Schedule IV drug.
Greubel was arrested Wednesday after Columbia County sheriff’s deputies escorted Georgia Department of Family and Children Services personnel to his Martinez home on Bridgton Drive, according to sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris. Morris said he does not know why DFCS was at the home.
While at the home, a narcotics investigator discovered methamphetamine and 33 Klonopin (clonazepam) pills in plain view, according to Morris.
Greubel was being held in the Columbia County Detention Center Friday on a $15,200 bond, according to jail records.
Greubel, a well-known kickboxer, was formerly associated with Greubel's Mixed Martial Arts, but owner, Mark Gruebel, said his brother has not been a part of the business for more than six years.
