Columbia County Sheriff's Office hits social media

Posted: September 4, 2013 - 9:45am

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is now sharing information via social networking.

Sheriff’s office recently created pages on Facebook and Twitter to share information and better connect with citizens, according to sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

The pages include posts regarding wanted persons, news releases, public safety notices, traffic delays and community events.

The social networking sites, according to Morris, are tools for the sheriff’s office to alert the public, keep citizens informed and seek information about crimes and criminal suspects.

Will we all get access to this CC taxpayer funded media? Or is

it just for the Ipad, Notebook owners? Can I look for a new IT device in my mailbox? More phones ringing as we traverse the crowded highways of CC. I would feel safer if you would address the numerous traffic bottlenecks along cross county thoroughfares. Just posted to my cell phone. "Traffic is at a standstill from WalMart to Pollard's Corner. Impatient driver are flying through the stop sign at Hardy McManus Rd. Impatient drivers are using the suicide lane for an alternate route.
