Columbia County authorities are trying to identify a man wanted for stealing another man’s wallet from a Harlem store on June 2.

A Harlem man said he went into Pumpkin Center Store at 1313 Appling-Harlem Road at about 11:10 p.m. on June 2. He showed the clerk his drivers license for cigarettes, then left his wallet on the counter while he got a soda from the cooler, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

When the man returned to the register, his wallet was gone. The man said he approached a customer outside about the wallet, but the customer denied taking it, according to the report.

The store owner checked the store video surveillance video and discovered another customer came to the counter to pay for his purchases and put the wallet in his pocket, according to the report.

The thief – a thin white man in his 20s wearing a black T-shirt – took the wallet, then left in a light-colored Chevrolet truck with a chrome took box that was parked at the gas pumps, according to the report.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity or whereabouts should call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 541-2800.

That was not thief.....

that was charity. LOL LOL Get you one of those chains and attach your wallet to your belt. Shame on you for placing temptation in the way of one of God's children. He was there to buy either some "spice" or contaminated gasoline/diesel mix.

This is okay

It is just Obama's economic policy at work in the local community. My wallet has been missing since he was sworn in in January 2009.

This is definitely a mistake

This is definitely a mistake that he shouldn't have make, robbing someone in just a blink of an eye. With the cameras that recorded everything, this man cannot escape. His only chance is a good attorney at law, someone like this man http://www.louisgoodman.com/ that can represent him in court. We must wait for his statement before judging him, but that can only happen after the authorities identify him.

That's his fault why did he

That's his fault why did he left his wallet on the counter in the first place?

Well just when I thought that I have heard it all, here comes something that I doubt anyone would have even thought to be so true. It will be amazing to see what lies ahead to come in the future for us.
