A Grovetown woman was sentenced to prison Thursday after she pled guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage boy in January.

Superior Court Judge Carl Brown sentenced Ashley Leigh Wood, 36, to five years in prison followed by 10 years probation at a sentencing hearing on Thursday. She was originally charged with aggravated child molestation, but pled guilty to child molestation as part of a negotiated plea agreement with the District Attorney’s Office.

Wood, who was a babysitter for a Grovetown family that included young children and a 14-year-old boy, is accused of offering and providing oral sex to the teen on Jan. 24. The teen told his father, who reported the incident.

Wood apologized to the victim and his family at the hearing.

“I was wrong,” Wood said. “It seems to me that I was tested and I failed.”

Wood also must register as a sex offender.

Tested and failed? No, mam, a test would have been completely different, like if HE would have OFFERED you sex.

Unless you mean by "test" that the boy was just there and you decided it would be a good idea to offer him sexual favors.

Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin

Thou art weighed in the balances and art found wanting.

Tekel, not tickle.

This is outrageous, she

This is outrageous, she should have got a life sentence for what she did. If she has a family and a child, not even child custody attorney in Sacramento can help her, giving the fact that she sexually assaulted a teenage boy. Anyway, the sentence is too mild compared to what she did.

She seems like a dangerous

She seems like a dangerous woman, the fact that she even thought about sexually assaulting a teenager is outrageous! The prison management should think about turning to burglar alarm monitoring St. Petersburg in order to purchase a better alarm monitoring. That way, this kind of dangerous people can't escape prison and commit another crime.

Glad they managed to catch

Glad they managed to catch her and now she's gonna pay for what she did. Let's hope the prison invested in community association management and is well-organized and fully prepared for this kind of prisoners. This is the only chance to avoid this kind of incidents in the future.
