An Evans attorney was nabbed in a bank parking lot after what police say was an attempted robbery Monday afternoon.

Ronald Jin Man Pak, 47, of the 4200 block of Aerie Circle, was arrested as he was leaving the Wells Fargo Bank at 489 Furys Ferry Road in Martinez, said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

Pak is a local attorney specializing in immigration and nationality law.

Deputies responded to an alarm at the bank shortly after 2 p.m. when Morris said Pak approached a teller, said he had a gun and demanded cash.

Pak didn’t show a weapon and left without receiving any money, and was apprehended while driving away from the bank parking lot, Morris said.

He was charged with criminal attempt to commit a felony and is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center without bond, according to jail records.

Too bad he didn't specialize

Too bad he didn't specialize in criminal law. Or common sense.

Does bank robbery .....

constitute a federal offense any longer?

Mentally Ill

This man has been hospitalized numerous times for mental illness. He used to work in a big Atlanta law firm before he was terminated for his bizarre behavior. His family is well off and owns a large business in Martinez. Money certainly wasn't a problem for him.
