Emergency personnel rush Brent Watkins, owner of Brent Watkins Enterprises, to an ambulance after being injured by tree that fell on him as he and a coworker were clearing a lot on Mullikan Road.

A grading contractor was injured Wednesday after a tree fell on him at a work site.

Brent Watkins, owner of Brent Watkins Enterprises, sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries at about 2:30 p.m. at the site next to 4210 Mullikin Road in Evans.

Watkins was operating a chainsaw to clear trees from the property when he and an employee operating an excavator had a miscommunication about where a large pine tree was going to fall. The tree fell onto Watkins.

He was transported to the Georgia Regents Medical Center with what appeared to be a broken leg and other minor injuries, according to Columbia County Fire Rescue Batt. Chief Jimmie Paschal.
