At least one person was seriously injured in a single-car wreck in Appling Thursday afternoon.

At about 4:20 p.m., a Honda sport utility vehicle veered off of Ray Owens Road in front of North Columbia Elementary School, according to Columbia County sheriff's Capt. Steve Morris. The vehicle ran through a ditch and hit a tree.

There were two people in the vehicle - a female driver and a toddler in the back seat, Morris said. One was airlifted to Georgia Regents Medical Center. There is no information yet available on their identifies or conditions, Morris said.
