Wife Saver moves to Grovetown site

Posted: April 23, 2013 - 2:41pm

Wifesaver has closed an Evans location and is moving to Grovetown.

Franchise owner Bob Quigley opted to relocate his restaurant at 116 N. Belair Road near Columbia Road, which closed Sunday, instead of undertaking extensive renovations on the dated building. The new eatery is set to open April 29 at 5123 Wrightsboro Road.

Quigley spent three years looking for land in the vicinity of his old location, but real estate was too pricey, he said. Grovetown offered a more affordable option and a strong customer base.

“We were landlocked,” Quigley said. “We wanted to build a new store on that property, but we didn’t have enough property. We had looked in the area right around us, and we just couldn’t find anything affordable.”

Quigley opened the Belair Road location in 1985. Wife Saver restaurants have since been streamlined, he said, and the old building would need an improved fire system and new sewer line, among other renovations.

“The expenses just kept on mounting up,” he said. “It would have been in the thousands.”

At 2,600-square-feet, Quigley said the building also was smaller than other Wife Savers.

The new dining spot has about 3,600 square feet and is modeled after the Furys Ferry Road Wife Saver in Evans. Most of the restaurant’s equipment is new, Quigley said.

Quigley is bringing his staff of 20 employees with him to the new restaurant and plans to hire six to eight more people.

“The folks out in Grovetown are excited,” he said. “I’ve had people come in the parking lot every day asking when we’re going to be open.”

Quigley said he hopes to sell or lease the old building for use by another restaurant.

The first Wife Saver restaurant opened in Augusta in 1965. There are now eight locations in the metro Augusta area.

This isn’t the first Wife Saver to locate in Grovetown. A previous franchise originally occupied the site of what is now the El Kiosko Mexican restaurant.

It's good to hear he managed

It's good to hear he managed to find a great location, sometimes building from scratch is the best solution if you want to impress and this is something a restaurant needs to do in order to attract customers. The luxury home builder in Dallas TX work would definitely stand out, that's why so many people go for their services when it comes to building their dream homes.

It must have been very

It must have been very difficult for them to take this decision and to move to the new location, people were used to find them at the old place. A difficult relocation process requires extra care, hopefully they got the help of the moving and packing Baltimore MD to keep everything under control.

Thank you for sharing this information regarding Wife Saver and I have visited this restaurant for many times. The foods that have been serving in this restaurant are very delicious and you will not forget the tastes.
