A Grovetown woman told deputies that a cab driver tried to sexually assault her early Saturday.
The 24-year-old woman said she’d been at a downtown Augusta bar until almost 3 a.m. when she asked a bar employee to call her a cab. A newer model Checker Cab arrived. She told the driver her address, then passed out in the back seat, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
The woman said she woke to a loud bang and the driver was standing by her open car door. The driver put his hands under her dress and moved them up her inner thighs. The driver made a sexually suggestive remark and the woman said she shoved the driver off her, according to the report. The driver got back in the drivers seat and took the woman home.
The woman called Checker Cab to tell them about the incident. The dispatcher told the woman that an ‘imposter” is driving around in a Checker Cab vehicle, picking up women and trying to commit sex acts with them, according to the report.
Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris said there have bee no other similar reports.
