Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 5 p.m. is the registration deadline for voters to be eligible to cast ballots in the March 19 special election for Grovetown City Council, while noon Friday, Feb. 22 is the deadline for candidates to seek the office.
The Grovetown election is to name a replacement for the three years of the unexpired term of Jennifer Jones, who recently resigned.
Qualifying for candidates for the race will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20 through noon Friday, Feb. 22, at Grovetown City Hall.
Only voters inside the Grovetown city limits will be eligible to vote in the March 19 special election. Voter registration forms are available at area high schools, city halls, driver’s license offices, public libraries and at the main office of the Columbia County Board of Elections, 500 Faircloth Drive, Building E of the Columbia County Government Center, Evans.
Voters can mail in the registration forms, but they must be postmarked by Feb. 19 for eligibility to vote March 19, said Columbia County Registration Coordinator Nancy Gay. Forms can be mailed to the Board of Elections at P.O. Box 919, Evans, GA 30909.
