A judge sentenced an Evans teen to prison Monday for aggravated child molestation.

Superior Court Judge J. David Roper sentenced Blake Davis Weems, 18, to 25 years in prison after he pled guilty to aggravated child molestation Monday. The sentence is the mandatory minimum for the charge.

Weems was charged June 12 for numerous sex crimes including aggravated child molestation after a 13-year-old girl said he’d molested her for about a year beginning when she was 12. The girl said Weems forced her to have sex and commit other sex acts with him, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

Roper said Weems could remain on house arrest, as he has been for five months prior to the sentencing, and turn himself in to the Columbia County Detention Center Monday.

It is very sad news that a teen has been sentenced to prison for molestation. I believe that Internet and our visual media also has role in these issues. We should have a check on Internet and the media qspray
