No one was injured in an Appling fire that destroyed an abandoned mobile home Monday evening.

Just after 7:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a woods fire at 6379 Washington Road near Eubank Drive. After winding down a narrow driveway, firefighters discovered an abandoned mobile home burning, according to Columbia County Fire-Rescue Batt. Chief Danny Kuhlmann.

No one was living in the trailer or nearby home. Both were very overgrown, Kuhlmann said. The mobile home was destroyed, but the fire only minimally damaged nearby woods and didn’t damage the house.

“No one was living there and there was no power,” Kuhlmann said.

The fire is suspicious, but firefighters were unable to determine the cause, Kuhlmann said.
