An Evans woman was taken to a hospital Tuesday after being hit by a car while riding her bicycle.

Tammy Roberts, 43, was taken to the Georgia Regents Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Columbia County sheriff’s Deputy Bobby Bradford.

At about 4 p.m, Roberts was riding her bike west along Old Evans Road at Connor Drive when she was hit by a Hyundai Sonata, driven by Dustin Henning. Hening, 21, of Evans, was exiting from Connor Drive onto Old Evans Road.

Bradford said the wreck is still under investigation and he had not yet determined who was at fault.

Well of course the automobile was at fault.

We are being led toward another major shift in personal rights vs. logic and common sense. The sheeple are ready. Lead on omnipotent government. Yes though I bike through the valley of cars, I will fear no evil; for nanny government will defend and protect me........

I have the right to jump off

I have the right to jump off of a roof, but I don't because I know that I will be seriously injured, maimed, or dead.

And while bicycle riders have the right to ride on those terrible, dangerous roads, they have to understand that what they are doing is extremely risky and they have to accept that risk. They have magical thinking if they think they are never going to get into an accident, people understand and accept that accidents are a part of life. That's why auto drivers MUST buy insurance, because they WILL have an accident.

But bicycle riders want to believe that they are immune, that they can avoid it by "being careful".

That's like me saying "I will be careful when I jump off the roof."

The roads in the CSRA ARE NOT SAFE to ride bikes on. And that is just the way it is.

ignorant motorist.

Logically I would expect a motorist to pay attention to the road. What is it with people in this city? Why is there a need to attack anyone who gets hit by a car? Trust me cyclists aren't riding down congested roads just to be in the way of vehicular traffic. They try to ride in lite traffic areas but, sometimes they have to cross these more dangerous area. What is it that you don't like about cyclists? Is it because they delay your daily Popeyes trip by 9 seconds? Maybe, because they chose a healthy lifestyle you are too lazy to pursue? I know for a fact not all riders obey the law or are smart on the road but, we all share the responsibilty to pay attention and be at least a little tolerant.

Any diligent bicyclist

Any diligent bicyclist wouldn't have been so neglected. Normally, when someone wants to do a long trip with the bicycle he goes together with some friends. It is much easier for them to use a quality bicycle trailer from http://magnetatrailers.com/bicycletrailer.html to transport their vehicles much faster in a certain area or to avoid busy streets. From that certain area they can begin their bicycle trip on safety roads.
