The Columbia and Richmond County legislative delegations will hold a joint meeting Tuesday, Jan. 29 in Atlanta.
Speakers for the session will include Georgia Regents University President Dr. Ricardo Azziz and Georgia Department of Transporation officials, according to a news release from the state Rep. Ben Harbin, R-Evans, and state Rep. Wayne Howard, D-Augusta.
The session will be held from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in room 515 of the Coverdell Legislative Office Building next door to the state Capitol.
Azziz will provide an update on GRU, while the DOT officials will present information on the recently approved transportation sales tax projects. Members of the public who attend the session in Atlanta will be able to comment during the meeting, the notice says.
“We are aware that the delegations plan to be unified and work together on projects that benefit the Central Savannah River Area,” said Harbin.
“This is part of an ongoing effort by our delegation to make this region stronger, which follows after a successful session of meetings with the mayor, commissioners, judges and constitutional officers a couple of weeks ago in Augusta,” Howard said.
