The Development Authority of Columbia County plans to hire a new executive director by spring.
At a Tuesday morning board meeting, the panel revealed that it has received more than 30 résumés since advertising for the job in early January.
Columbia County commissioners voted in December not to renew the contract of former executive director Troy Post. His final day was Dec. 31.
The decision not to rehire Post was a joint decision by Columbia County commissioners and the Development Authority, Chairman Mark Wills said.
Post served as executive director for four years.
The board is looking to hire someone who will focus on retail development, not just the industrial sector, Wills said.
“We’ve got an opportunity to bring in somebody, with the changes in Columbia County, (with) some skill sets that we’re going to need to help us grow,” he said.
The board selected a four-person search committee that is in the process of screening potential candidates.Committee Chairman Doug Duncan said they hope to have someone in place before Masters Week.
