A Martinez boy is recovering after lung transplant surgery in St. Louis last night.
Sawyer Mobley, 10, underwent a double lung transplant Wednesday evening at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He came out of surgery in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to information posted by his mother, Angel Mobley, on the Facebook page Strength for Sawyer.
"Sawyer is currently stable," his mother posted at about 3 p.m.
Sawyer's doctors are pleased with his progress.
He’s battled cystic fibrosis since he was a newborn. His condition deteriorated quickly after a catching a common virus in the summer.
Sawyer and his mother left for St. Louis in late August, when he was put on the transplant list. They’ve been there awaiting new lungs, which arrived Wednesday.
“Thanks to everyone for prayers and kind words!" Sawyer's mother posted. "Miracles happening as we speak."
