An Augusta man was arrested Tuesday after he threatened to blow up the Department of Driver Services.

Anthony Dale Garrett, 48, of Village Court South, was charged with making terroristic threats and is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center on a 42,600 bond, according to jail records.

An employee of Driver Services at 4408 Evans to Locks Road said she was helping Garrett who requested to reinstate his license at about 9:30 a.m. The employee said Garrett got irate when she told him he needed one more class before she could reinstate his license.

The employee said Garrett said he “ought to come back and blow up the building.” Garrett left and the woman called authorities.

Two other Driver Services employees overheard the threat.

A Magistrate Court judge issued a warrant for Garrett’s arrest and deputies picked him up at his home.

We've All Thought It

C'mon, we've all thought about it after waiting in line.

Maybe a Detention Center employee will drive him to take that one last class.
