Columbia County authorities are looking for a man they say stole a woman’s sunglasses from an Evans McDonald’s.

A 75-year-old Evans woman called the McDonald’s store at 5109 Washington Road on Dec. 20 after realizing she’d left her sunglasses on the counter while paying for her meal. She called the store and an employee confirmed the $175 Ray Ban sunglasses were there and they’d be kept until she returned for them.

When the woman went to the restaurant, she was told the sunglasses were gone. A cashier said a man asked to see the sunglasses, which were sitting on the counter next to a coffee pot in plain view. The man gave the cashier the impression they were his and he left with the sunglasses.

Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the man should call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 541-2800.
