Two men were seriously injured Monday following a head-on collision just past Harlem near the McDuffie County line.
James Ousley, 65, of Harlem, was airlifted to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital at about 2 p.m. after his SUV was struck head-on by a truck on West Milledgeville Road near Sawdust Road, said Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
Hospital Spokeswoman Denise Parrish said Tuesday morning that Ousley is listed in good condition.
Ousley was driving east on West Milledgeville Road in a 2006 Pontiac Torrent when a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado traveling in the opposite direction crossed the center line and hit Ousley’s vehicle, Morris said.
The truck’s driver, Eugene Williamson, 35, of Dearing, was injured, but discharged from MCG late Monday, Parrish said.
Ousley’s 59-year-old passenger, Richard Huffman, of Harlem, also was taken to MCG, where he is listed in good condition Tuesday, Parrish said.
Williamson was at fault in the wreck and charges are pending, Morris said.
Ousley was not wearing his seatbelt, Morris said.
