Columbia County authorities are trying to identify two people in connection with a Christmas Eve purse theft from a Martinez grocery store.

A Grovetown woman said she was shopping at Kroger, 4115 Columbia Road, at about 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The woman left her purse in the shopping she left unattended briefly to look at merchandise, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

When she returned to the cart, the 60-year-old woman said she looked through her purse and discovered her wallet missing, according to the report. The wallet contained several store credit cards, her Social Security card, debit card and $40 in cash.

The woman's card was later used at Target.

Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the two suspects should call the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 541-2800.
