An afternoon blaze Friday left a Martinez home in the Westlake subdivision with substantial damage.
Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue crews were notified of a fire on the 3500 block of Bellerive Circle at about 2:15 p.m. after the homeowner advised fire dispatchers that the home’s roof was on fire, said department spokesman Jeremy Wallen.
“It’s gone,” Wallen said of the roof. “And half the second floor is gone.”
No one was hurt in the blaze. The homeowner, a woman, was the only person inside when firefighters were called, Wallen said.
The first floor sustained smoke and water damage, said Wallen, adding that the home is uninhabitable.
Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
