The 2012 totals for the annual “It’s Spooky to Be Hungry” food and funds drive will be revealed in a weigh-in set for Saturday, Dec. 8.
Golden Harvest Food Bank, which announced the weigh-in Wednesday, will hold the event at its Augusta warehouse at 3310 Commerce Drive from 10 a.m. to noon.
The food drive, which started with three neighborhoods in Columbia County and expanded to counties throughout the area, marked its 20th year in October.
Golden Harvest Food Bank, which is the recipient of the drive, has seen a down-turn in donations this year that it attributes to the economy and an election year.
Contributions to the Spooky drive still can be made to Golden Harvest via its web site, www.goldenharvest.org or by checks marked “Spooky” to Golden Harvest Food Bank, 3310 Commerce Drive Augusta, GA, 30909. Participants also can bring non-perishable donations to Saturday’s weigh-in.
Golden Harvest Food Bank is a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization that provides food and other grocery products to those in need.
