A rollover on Washington Road at Bobby Jones sent two people to the hospital and temporarily closed westbound traffic.
Austin Boyd, 17, of North Augusta, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe west on Washington Road at about 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, and ran through a red light at Bobby Jones Expressway, according to Columbia County sheriff’s Deputy Mark Smith.
Sean Tanner, 19, of Evans, was driving a pickup truck pulling a trailer on Bobby Jones Expressway. He hit the Tahoe while either going straight across to Old Evans Road or turning left onto westbound Washington Road, Smith said.
The Tahoe rolled over and landed on the roof blocking the westbound lanes of Washington Road in front of Stanton Optical.
Boyd and his passenger, 17-year-old Jaquarez Bibbs, of North Augusta, were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Smith said. Tanner sustained minor injuries and was not transported.
Boyd was found at fault in the wreck and was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device, Smith said.
