Columbia County authorities are still investigating the Saturday death of Krissy Beggs Kitchens, 29, of Martinez.
An autopsy is scheduled for Kitchens today at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Augusta, according to Columbia County Coroner Harriett Garrison.
A neighbor called deputies to Kitchens’ Valdez Drive home at about 9 p.m. Saturday, Columbia County Deputy Coroner Harriett Garrison said.
Deputies found Kitchens, 29, in the kitchen with a gunshot wound from a hand gun. Garrison pronounced her dead in the home at 9:45 p.m. She refused to release more details because of the ongoing investigation.
“It was just suspicious,” Garrison said. “There was a lot of cause for suspicion.”
The incident was originally described a suicide, but is now a “death investigation,” according to Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.
