It was a busy Friday night and Saturday morning for Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue, according to department spokesman Jeremy Whalen.
Units responded to a structure fire at 574 Medinah Drive in the West Lake community a little after 9:30 p.m. Friday night. When engine three arrived, there was smoke and fire visible on two sides of the house on the second floor with no visibility and extreme heat.
The report annotated that the fire started in a bonus room above the garage and extended down the hallway toward bedrooms. Homeowners were alerted to the fire by an activated smoke detector and called 911.
The bonus room was a loss from the fire while there was smoke damage to the first floor.
While there were no injuries reported to the homeowners, a firefighter was treated at Doctors Hospital for a burn and later released.
