Power is out in sections of Columbia County after a two-vehicle crash early Thursday snapped a utility pole on Evans to Lock Road near the entrance of Jones Creek subdivision in Martinez. Evans to Locks is blocked to traffic as Georgia Power crews work to replace the pole.

Georgia Power representative Carol Boatright said that initially 1500 homes were affected by the outage but that, through switching, that number is down to about 750. They hope to reduce the number of affected homes even more with additional re-routing.

She said the estimated time for pole and power repair completion is between 11 and 11:30 a.m.
