Halloween is around the corner and volunteers will take to the streets Saturday collecting for the annual It’s Spooky to Be Hungry food drive.
Food and monetary donations go to the Golden Harvest Food Bank.
Volunteers will canvass Georgia neighborhoods on Saturday collecting canned and non-perishable food items.
Last year, more than 1,600 volunteers in more than 450 neighborhoods, schools, businesses, faith communities and civic organizations collected about 153,215 pounds of food and $56,935 in donations in the local eight-county area.
The collection allowed the food bank to provide 127,679 meals to local needy families.
