Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced today that the Republican General Primary runoff has been officially certified with Columbia County resident Lee Anderson as the winner. According to the press release, Anderson won with 50.29 percent of the vote, beating his opponent Rick Allen by 159 votes. Because the margin of victory was less than 1 percent, Allen is entitled to request a recount, which he has done. The Secretary of State’s office told The Augusta Chronicle that would be accomplished by Thursday. If the results stand, Anderson will face off against Democratic incumbent John Barrow on Nov. 6.
